Willow Fondation Charity Auction Night

Models Direct’s models Meg and Jo had lots of fun helping with a charity auction event over the weekend. The night was all in aid of raising money for the Willow Foundation charity which provides special days for seriously ill 16 to 40 year olds. As part of their role Meg and Jo were asked to show auction items and take the sealed bids.

The evening was absolutely amazing, great food, and most of all lovely people coming together for a great cause.

Models Direct’s Lydia has ‘a great day’

Models Direct’s Lydia had a great day on a recent modelling assignment for the storage company Action Storage Systems.

‘I had a great day, the people I worked with were very friendly and made me feel really comfortable.’ Lydia’s photographs are set to appear in the company’s annual catalogue out in January of next year. We can’t wait to see them!

Teenage Model Khade Gets Picked Again!

Models Direct’s teenage model Khade proved so much of a hit on his first shoot with the online retailer MandM Direct that he was recently asked back for a second modelling assignment.

Khade had great fun modelling sportswear for the company's online catalogue. His mother told Models Direct he had a really good time, ‘Another really enjoyable assignment with MandM direct. Khade worked along side a female model which was great fun. Another very positive experience for him.’

Model’s Direct model Jodie recently took part in an NHS advertising campaign showing the negative effect of weight gain caused by alcohol. In order to demonstrate this message Jodie was shot struggling to fasten her jeans!

Jodie had a brilliant time, ‘It was a lot of fun and I had a great day. The photographer was also really friendly and put me at ease. I look forward to my next assignment.’

Models Direct: Two Of Our Models Get Selected!

Models Direct’s Robbie and Natalia had a great time recently shooting an advertising campaign for the launch of a new fridge. Robbie had a brilliant time on set, ‘It was really enjoyable’ as did Natalia, ‘Everyone was friendly and the client was pleased with the final results. I really enjoyed myself.’ We’ll glad that Models Direct had yet another successful day’s shoot!

Models Direct’s Peter Takes a Trip to Portugal

Every so often our lucky models are given the opportunity to not only show off their talents in photographic, production and promotional roles, they get to go on a trip abroad as well! This is what happened when model Peter was selected for an assignment for Synergy.

Peter travelled to Portugal to take part in a corporate event for medical professionals. Peter, who has plenty of experience in drama and extra work, performed a monologue and in a role play for the company. From what we’ve heard it seems like an enjoyable and luxurious few days for the model.

“The clients were lovely,” Peter told Models Direct. “Always encouraging me and making me feel really welcome. The accommodation and travel was perfect – even though there was an hour’s delay on the return flight, there was a chauffeured car waiting to take me home when I arrived, which was really excellent.”

Valour And Valkerie

Last month one female model, Monika, had the pleasure of working with a husband wife team for a new clothing range for Valour and Valkerie. Monika posed for a photo shoot modelling wife and designer Joanne’s clothes. Both model and clients were pleased with how the assignment went.

“Was one of the best days, I had a really good time,” Monika told us here at Models Direct. “Joanne and her husband were really kind and friendly. I had a catalogue photo shoot with the best dress and make up.”

When Aaduki Multimedia came to Models Direct looking for a male promotional model they needed someone who wouldn’t mind showing some flesh! It was toned model Jake who was selected to wear the company’s tiny shorts, handing out promotional material at an event.

“It felt great to be a model for the day,” Jake told us in his feedback. “Felt a bit self conscious at first as was only wearing small shorts but soon got into it. Would feel find doing it again! Female Models Meet and Greet at Corporate Day Out

When one of the models selected for a promotional modelling assignment at a golf day was unable to make it, model Heidi was more than happy to fill in. She worked at the golf day, along with model Laura, meeting and greeting participants at the event.

“I was really pleased to be asked attend this job and really enjoyed it,” Heidi informed Models Direct in her feedback. “It involved interacting with participants at a corporate golfing day and was a really nice atmosphere.”

“It was fun and friendly” Laura agreed. “Lovely place to work and it was nice to chat and meet new people. Meet and greet was all we had to do so felt very relaxed.”

At the beginning of August baby Max took part in a photo shoot for advertising for Pampers, the 4th baby from Models Direct to be used by the company! We asked Max’s mum Katy for some feedback on how the assignment went.

“Max loved meeting all the new people and everyone was very sweet to him,” Katy explained. “The photographer, Jo, was particularly nice and made sure the babies were happy and comfortable at all times. There was no pressure and everyone was very professional. A great experience!”

Models Direct Model Ayshat Plays the Blushing Bride

Being paid to dress up as a beautiful bride is no doubt the dream job for many women and for model Ayshat it turned into reality! She spent one summer morning modelling for Siobhan Moriarty.

It was the third assignment for Ayshat with Models Direct who said this about the assignment: “It was the best time I spent with any of the clients! I absolutely enjoyed in, thank you.”

Siobhan was also impressed with the model she selected. When asked how the assignment went she gave Models Direct a great response. “The model Ayshat was excellent and a really nice person to work with,” she told us. “I am delighted with the results and I’m glad to have had this experience, would definitely book another model again!”

Models Direct: A Day Out in London

Back in June, four lucky child models were chosen to take part in a photo shoot
at the Natural History Museum in London for children’s clothing company Vintage Kit.

After the museum it was on to Hyde Park for more photos. Although it was a long day for the young models, their parents gave us some positive feedback.

“Eniz had a great day on the Vintage Kit photo shoot,” her dad Besh commented. “The contact on the day was very understanding and very patient with the young children on the assignment…”

Recently, two our female models, Natalie and Helen, were chosen to take part in an advertising photo shoot for Deluxe Beds. From their feedback it sounds like they both had loads of fun.

“It was great being a model for the day, I enjoyed it loads and got on great with the people there,” Natalie informed Models Direct in her feedback. “The best things about the assignment were the people and doing the modelling.”

Models Direct Also Take on Pets!

If you’re a fan of the television show Live from Studio Five you may have seen one of our pet models appear as part of the build up to the World Cup. The producers were looking for a British Bulldog to appear on the show, picking out scores for the England vs. USA match. It was Catherine’s well trained pooch Charlie who was selected for the part.

“Charlie enjoyed being in the TV studio, he was very relaxed and worked well with the cameras and actors,” Catherine informed Models Direct after the assignment took place. “As we were broadcasting live we haven’t seen the footage, but our friends tell us that he came across very well and members of the public emailed to remark on how well behaved Charlie was.”

Fun and Games for Models Direct’s Michal

When gaming company Namco Bandai came to Models Direct they were looking for a muscly male model to act the role of one of the characters from a new game. It was model Michal who was selected for the assignment. He spent one afternoon/evening handing out promotional material and presenting an award in London.

“I really enjoyed modelling for Ultimo,” Laura informed us. “I was treated very professionally throughout the day and it was a lot of fun. The best thing was that it was such an easy job and I felt very comfortable. I was asked to wear different underwear and pose for the camera, not even like work is it!”

Back in June we sent some of our baby models along to a casting for Pampers advertising. Twenty babies from various modelling agencies attended and today we heard the news that one of our baby models, Max, was selected!

Models Direct’s Child Modelling Assignment with Kit for Kids

Nine child models were chosen to take part in a number of assignments with Models Direct repeat client Kit For Kids. However, it didn’t wasn’t too much hard work as they were photographed playing with the company’s products. Read on for some of the feedback from the parents.

“Morgan was asked to play with toys, read books, pull faces and play with the group,” Morgan’s mum Claire informed us. “Morgan really enjoyed the shoot and she made friends with the other children involved. She was very relaxed and performed well.”

“Zach had a great time modelling for Kit For Kids,” Zach’s mum Sam agreed. “This was his first modelling assignment and he loved every minute of it. Zach enjoyed having lots of different photos taken and made some great friends that he hopes to see again. Thank you Models Direct for a great day!”

Models Direct: An Education in Modelling

Three models recently took part in three assignments for Pearson Education books, posing in a number of different situations. Nineteen-year-old Nick was posing speaking on the phone. Here’s what he had to say about the assignment.

“I felt very welcome straight away and completely comfortable with the people there and the surroundings,” Nick informed Models Direct. “The clients were very professional, completely down to earth and all seemed very lovely people. The best thing about the assignment for me was the fact that I was doing something I really love and enjoy doing! Recently I’ve been used to cleaning tables, serving food and clearing up other people’s mess for pennies! I truly had a lovely time, so thank you so much for providing me with the great opportunity!”

Models Direct Find the Perfect Solution for Promotional Modelling!

Recently, three Models Direct models, Toni, Claire and Julia took part in a promotional assignment at Folkestone Racecourse. The girls were promoting the Ashford Designer Outlet and therefore got to wear some gorgeous clothes. Everyone had a good day and we had some great feedback from the models.

“I had lots of fun on this assignment,” 22-year-old Julia told us. “The clients were very friendly and organised things efficiently. I loved being allocated out clothes. I got to wear this amazing big black hat and dress from L.K Bennett. There was a great atmosphere at the racecourse. It was a sunny day and I enjoyed chatting and joking with lots of people.”

"The experience was invaluable," says John after BBC Assignment

One of our models, John, recently appeared on BBC’s Crimewatch, but don’t worry, he’s not a criminal! John had a walk-on part in one of the TV show’s crime reconstruction scene. Here’s what he got up to.

“As this was my first assignment I didn’t know what to expect,” John explained. “After brief introductions and a soft drink we were whisked off to a private dining room to film the first few scenes. I knew I had a walk-on part but had no idea we would be ad-libbing as well as eating on camera. Once this was complete we were driven to another location to film the murder scene.”

“The other ‘actors’ were far more experienced than me but were easy to work with. Whilst the fee was modest the experience was invaluable and I hope to do more soon.”

Model Tabitha was given the enviable job of modelling bridal accessories for Rainbow Club. Although there was a mix-up on the date of the assignment (no one could find anyone else!), Tabitha did so well that she’s been asked back for a similar assignment soon. Here’s what Tabitha said about the promotional assignment.

“They were really friendly and it was a relaxed environment,” Tabitha told Models Direct coordinators. “I had clear directions; I had to wear the shoes, veils and headpieces and also have some photos in the veils. All went well so they want to use me again.”

Yet Another Models Direct Assignment with Smiffy's

We’ve just had feedback from Ashleigh and Shae-Love’s most recent assignment with fancy dress company Smiffy’s. Here’s what their mums had to say about their photo shoots.

“Ashleigh said she felt ‘fantastic’ being a model for the day as it ‘was good fun’,” her mum Kerry told Models Direct. “The best thing about the day’s assignment was at the end of the photo shoot the six children chose a fancy dress costume to wear, danced in it, played with balloons, party poppers and bouncy balls – lots of fun!”

Shae-Love’s mum Selina confirmed that the assignment was really fun for all involved.

“Another great assignment,” Selina said. “Shae is becoming increasingly confident, she felt very special. The best thing about the assignment was that Shae-Love got the opportunity to wear different outfits and get her makeup and hair done, which she loved.”

Another Successful Assignment for Models Direct with Repeat Client Karen

Models Direct have been helping makeup artist Karen by providing models for the last year. After qualifying from a top hair and beauty school, Karen needed models to practise on and photograph for her portfolio. This month Sarah had her second assignment with the stylist.

“It felt fantastic modelling for the day,” Sarah informed Models Direct coordinators. “I really enjoy working with Karen and had a lovely morning with her. The best thing about the assignment was having my makeup done. I was asked to have my makeup done and then to pose for a selection of photos.”

A Scientific Assignment for Jahmel and Karolina

After each assignment he’s received through Models Direct, model Jahmel always provides us with some brilliant (and funny) feedback. This was the case with his most recent assignment for the Science Museum in London.

“I had to sit on a stool and take a thousand and one photos, moving my head slightly forward and chin up and all those challenging directions that most people would require a PHD in order to do,” Jahmel jokes. “It was fun anyway. I got to make like I was important for three hours before going to my day job where my model features are wasted and I just blend in with all the others whilst dreaming about what my next shoot will be like.”

A Yummy Assignment For Model Ed

In a recent assignment, 20-year-old Ed was sent out on a photographic assignment for a repeat client of Models Direct, Torch B2B. Ed was photographed eating a sandwich as part of an advertising campaign. Here’s what he told us about the assignment.

“It was really good fun working with a team of people on the same project,” Ed explained. “It was nice to see that the chosen picture was suitable for their needs. The professionalism of the photographer was encouraging in helping me perform to their expectations. The project was well explained and I knew what was wanted.”

Modelling morris-dancing outfits may not sound very glamorous, but it proved to be a great day for 49-year-old Adrian. He was involved in a photo shoot to compare the old costumes with the more modern outfits that have just been introduced. Here’s what Adrian had to say about the assignment.

“I haven’t had that much fun for a long time,” Adrian explained enthusiastically. “The shoot was relaxed, professional and fun. I trust I got on OK with the photographer and the person for whom he was working. I hope I did well and produced the goods for the client.”

We’ve already posted about the recent assignment for Pampers. Since then one of the models has been selected again by the client to appear in more publicity materials for the massive baby brand.

Here’s what baby Jayden’s mum Evelyn said about her son’s second assignment with Models Direct.

“Jayden enjoyed himself and I could see he had a good time,” Evelyn informed us. “The best thing about the assignment was that everyone was very friendly and caring. It was a Pampers photo shoot and Jayden had to pose lying on his belly, looking up and looking up and smiling. I can say that it was quite difficult but everything went well in the end. Thank you for letting us represent you.”

Smiffy’s favourite child models Ashleigh and Shae-Love were selected yet again for two more assignments with the fancy dress company. They have already had their first of the two assignments, a fitting session, and are looking forward to the photo shoot soon.

“We drove Ashleigh to Leeds for costume fittings for the client Smiffy’s,” she told Models Direct. “As usual the staff were very friendly and made both Ashleigh and I feel very welcome. Looking forward to Ashleigh’s 4th photo shoot with this client.”

Two Very Different Assignments with Models Direct...

Just to show how varied the assignments that Models Direct receive are here are just two of the assignments that are taking place this week.

Firstly, we have a British Bulldog called Charlie appearing on the channel five ‘Live From Studio Five’ tomorrow. He will be asked to pull out a bone from a dog bowl which will have a World Cup match score prediction on it. We wonder if it’ll be right!
Secondly, one of our models, Peter, is leaving rainy England and flying out to sunny Portugal today. This is a role play assignment and he will be acting as a patient at a medical conference. It’s alright for some!

Models Direct Male Models Cruise the Catwalk

Two of our male models, John and Carlos, took part in a fashion event in the stylish Cruise store in Aberdeen that stocks designer brands including Prada, Gucci and Jimmy Choo.

John and Carlos both enjoyed strutting their way through the spectators on this catwalk assignment. Models Direct asked them how the evening went.

“The experience was great fun,” John informed Models Direct. “It was the first time I had done anything like it. Getting to do something completely different from normal was appreciated.”

Models Direct's Baby Model TV Stars!

Later in the year three you can see three Models Direct baby models appearing on Channel 4’s ‘Sex Education Show’.

The babies, Amelia, Jayden and Paige, were handed over to a group of teenagers to show how hard it is to look after a child. All of the mums had some great feedback and here at Models Direct we can’t wait to see the programme when it’s shown on TV.

“Amelia thoroughly enjoyed her first assignment and loved all the cameras and lights etc,” Amelia’s mum Krystal told us in her feedback. “She particularly enjoyed being with her fellow models and has made two new friends. Amelia behaved impeccably and enjoyed all the attention all the attention she was getting from the teenagers, presenter, production and crew. We hope any future assignments are as successful as today!”

A Relaxing Assignment for Models Direct’s Selina

Last month one of our lucky models was selected to take part in a photo shoot in a hotel. Selina was photographed in her own swimwear and casual clothing posing around the swimming pool and sauna areas of the hotel.

Models Direct asked her from some feedback. “It was great being a model for the day, a lot of smiling!” was Selina’s response.

Mature Model Enjoys a Day in the Park

Models Direct first worked with client David from DB Photography back in 2009. In April the photographer returned, even selecting the same model he had worked with previously!

Fifty-five year old Ericka was requested by the client to take part in another photoshoot, this time on location in Eaton Park, not far away from the Models Direct office! We asked Ericka how she felt about her second assignment with DB Photography.

“Really enjoyed this assignment,” Ericka informed one Models Direct coordinator. “Had modelled for David before so it was good to see him again. He’s a real professional and put me at ease. He took pictures of me with various things such as a phone, camera etc. Hope I get more work!”

Two Days Modelling Bridalwear for Tabitha!

Models Direct's Ruth and Jayden Beat Competition to Become Pampers Baby Models

Last month Models Direct sent eight baby models out on a casting to see if they could become models for famous brand Pampers.

The casting agent was looking for tanned and dark-skinned babies aged 6-14 months. Baby models Alissia, Ousmane, Firdous, Ruth, Jayden, Jack, Oduware, Armani and Renell were selected from their profile photos to attend the casting. They each spent around ten minutes with the casting director so she could find out more about their personalities.

Models Direct were really happy when they found out Jayden and Ruth had been selected for the photo shoot. Both of the babies were booked for five hours for the photo shoot, in which they would be photographed sleeping – which could have proved difficult!

The assignment went well and we can’t wait to see the final pictures. Meanwhile, here’s some feedback from Ruth’s mum Denise.

“The day went well and the client was very patient and accommodating,” Denise informed Models Direct. “It was a lovely calm atmosphere, and although Ruth cannot speak for herself, I can say that she felt very relaxed. The best thing about the day was seeing it all come together and realising how much hard work goes into these shoots.”

Emma Poses for Local Photographer!

Earlier this month Models Direct model Emma enjoyed her first photo shoot. The assignment was with DB Photography.

The photography company was looking for a professional looking woman in her mid thirties who would be suitable for a number of business shots. The assignment took place at the Henderson Business Centre in Norwich.

Models Direct asked Emma how she felt about the assignment.

“I really enjoyed my first shoot, the client was very friendly and nice and made me feel at ease,” Emma explained. “I was asked to do a ‘tired at work’ and ‘healthy eating’ shoot which I enjoyed, especially as I got to eat it! I did find the stressed look quite hard and am intrigued as to how they look.”

Testing Equipment with Models Direct

So far, client Activity Domain has completed two assignments with Models Direct models, with another one booked to take place soon.

The company has been testing various lighting equipment and accessories to provide feedback and examples to supplement training material for clients. The two assignments so far have gone really well. We asked the models, Wei and Charlene, for their feedback.

“It was really good,” Charlene told Models Direct. “I was nervous at the time but the photographer made me feel at ease. I really enjoyed every minute of it and would love to do it again.”

Models Direct are really pleased that the assignments went well and hope the next will be just as successful!

After being so happy with Models Direct models first time around, furniture company Natuzzi Services Ltd returned to us for another weekend of promotional assignments.

Natuzzi needed a number of models to work in their shops across the UK, meeting and greeting customers. Again the models involved were pleased with how their assignments went, despite some admitting that it was not the type of work they were expecting.

Models Direct asked the models for their feedback on how the assignments went. Ubed and Rachael were both working in the Croydon store.

“It felt really good doing promotional work for a high-end company and also representing Models Direct in a professional manner,” model Ubed reported to Models Direct. “Best thing I would say was being able to work in a great atmosphere and interacting with the customers.”

Rachael was also enthusiastic about the assignment.

“We both had to meet and greet customers into the store, check whether they needed any sales help and then offer them refreshments,” she explained. “The team at Natuzzi are so friendly and lovely, they make the day fly by. I hope to see the staff again in the future!

Repeat Assignments for The National Sporting Club!

You may remember that a while ago Models Direct had an assignment with The National Sporting Club, a high class hospitality provider for, you guessed it, sporting events.

As was the case for Models Direct's first assignment with company, The National Sporting Club required promotional models to help out an auction and function at Twickenham Stadium.

For the first assignment back in November the England rugby team were playing New Zealand. Now our models are helping out at events that are part of the Six Nations tournament.

Models Direct asked the girls how they got on…

“This was my first job from Models Direct,” Diana explained. “The job was very easy and nice. Me and seven other girls worked as hostesses. We had to meet customers and smile. It was a great experience for me. I hope to get similar jobs again.”

“It felt extremely good to be recognised as a model,” model Nirmin agreed. “The best thing about the assignment was getting to meet new people and interacting with them on a professionally friendly level.”

Models Direct hope the next assignment with the company goes just as well!

Another 'Purrfect' Assignment With Refinery Photography

Models Direct have just completed their third pet modelling assignment with Manchester company Refinery Photography. Again they were looking for animals to model products in the Kleeneze brochure.

Angel the dog and Dippy the cat were chosen for the photoshoot. Angel’s owner Nicola gave us an account of the day.

“We really enjoyed taking Angel today,” Nicola told Models Direct in her feedback. “The people were really nice to both us and Angel, she was a good girl and the seemed to be happy with her. She had three lots of pictures taken for the Kleeneze brochure, one for a safety gate, one in a car and one with a flashing collar light. Thank you for the assignment and we hope you will use Angel again in the near future.”

“I really enjoyed being a model for Karen, she was really friendly and we got on well. For my assignment I had to get my make up done by Karen then have pictures taken of me. Overall I really enjoyed the experience and I hope to do more work in the future.”

A Day at the Cinema for Models Direct Models

It’s always nice when lots of different models get to work with each other. This was the case for a recent assignment with Emperor Design, for which our coordinators had to find twelve models, including children, teenagers and adults.

Emperor Design was working with Models Direct on behalf of Cineworld cinemas, who required models for all of their publicity material. The assignment involved the models being photographed around one of the cinemas in Aberdeen.

This was perfect for five-year-old Ellie, as her mum explains…

“Marc the organiser and Patric the photographer were really great. They made Ellie feel so at ease that she needed little or no direction, she just enjoyed herself.”

“Ellie was asked to sit in the cinema and watch the big screen while having her photo taken. She also had her picture taken while choosing pick and mix sweets, popcorn and ice cream, this was a little girl’s dream come true as she was allowed to eat it all!”

We have to say, it sounds pretty fun to us too!

Promotional Modelling with a Difference

When luxury furniture company Natuzzi needed some models to help meet and greet at some of their stores, they turned to Models Direct!

Natuzzi needed friendly models for three locations in Croydon, Manchester and London to welcome customers to the stores. Raymond, Katie, Shelene, Andrew and Rachael were the models chosen, and although it was an unusual modelling assignment in many ways, they still all enjoyed it.

“I had a very relaxed and fun day working for a luxury Italian furniture store,” Katie, who was working at the Finchley Road shop in London. “The staff were all really friendly, as was the other model I was working for. My job was to see if the customers were happy and I learnt how to use a coffee machine – always handy!”

Model George Looked The Part For This Promotional Modelling Assignment

You may have seen the blogs about some of Models Direct's recent promotional assignments, and now comes one with a difference! Companies often use young men and women to help meet and greet at trade shows and events, but for this assignment, Cyprus-based company Bet Soft Gaming wanted a different sort of promotional model.

70-year-old George was chosen to play the role of one of their mascots, The Slot Father. It was a three-day assignment helping Bet Soft Gaming at the Gaming Expo at Earls Court.

George has lots of experience modelling, but he’s more used to being in front of a camera. He still had a great time though, working with great clients and meeting the public. As you can see from the pictures he certainly looked the part!

Models Direct Assignments With Infinite Realities: An Update

We’ve had such a positive response to recent assignments with Infinite Realities that we didn’t have enough space to quote all of the models! Read on for some more feedback from the assignments.

“The client gave me positive feedback and the assignment in my eyes was a success,” model Glen told Models Direct. “It was a good feeling to finally receive my first assignment and look forward to hopefully working again soon.”

“Today I had a job with Lee Perry-Smith and he basically just took shots of my head with different facial expressions,” explained model Alice. “I really enjoyed it, it was easier than I thought and he was very friendly and made me feel very comfortable. I didn’t feel stupid even though I was pulling the weirdest facial expressions, it was really fun and I would love to do it again!”

“I really enjoyed my assignment,” Samantha told Models Direct coordinators. “I was asked to pull different expressions so the designer could use them to make a digital version of me. I particularly enjoyed seeing a snapshot of what I could look like in the digital world! A fun and different assignment.”

And finally…

“It was a great experience. I had a lot of fun and thoroughly enjoyed it,” Daniel reported. “The best thing was doing something different from my normal job and having fun with it. I was asked to do various facial expressions.”

A Baby Modelling Assignment for New Zealand Based Company Outlook

Recently, Models Direct had an assignment with marketing consultants Intuisys, who are based just a few miles down the road from our head office in Norwich. They were looking for models on behalf of their client Outlook, based in New Zealand – not quite so close to home!

Outlook designs and produces various pram and pushchair accessories such as sunshades and snugs. They needed some baby models to demonstrate these products for publicity material.

Baby models Elsie, Sofia and brothers Harrison and Jake were chosen for the photoshoot, which took place in Dereham, Norfolk. The assignment went well and Models Direct had some great feedback from the children’s parents.

“Elsie was very content and happy throughout the shoot,” her mum Amy told one of our coordinators. “She had a few changes of clothes and changes of props but she remained calm and looked like she enjoyed all the attention. I was pleased with the whole experience and hope to have more to look forward to in the future.”

No doubt all of the babies’ mums are excited about the thought of their bundles of joy being in publicity material that will be seen all over the world!

Model Visits BBC Radio 1 Promoting God Of War Computer Game

Model Gordan got to mingle with some famous DJs when he was selected for a promotions assignment with client John Doe. He had to dress up as a character from a popular computer game and visit various radio stations.

Gordan really enjoyed the assignment, especially as he got to meet Chris Moyles and Dave Berry.

“It was great dressing up today as God of War for the PS3 promotion with John Doe Agency,” Gordan informed Models Direct. “I got to meet celebrity DJs like Chris Moyles from BBC Radio and Dave Berry from Xfm.”

Models Wendy and Jahmel Appear in National News

Two Models Direct models were all over the news on Tuesday morning as they modelled a new hospital gown, designed by Ben de Lisi, on national TV channels including the BBC and ITV.

Wendy and Jahmel were hired by the Design Council to work on the assignment and as well as appearing on television, they also had their photos taken by the press for various newspapers. News of the hospital gown and pictures of our models has even spread over into the US and Canada!

Wendy gave us some feedback about the morning.

“I loved being a model for the day,” she told Models Direct. “Design Council were lovely people, very professional and friendly. I learnt a lot and also the whole morning was a joy and a pleasure.”

Another Assignment for Model Shaun

Models Direct recently had a request for an overweight male model to pose for a photoshoot for the Helen Hamlyn Centre. The clients were looking for images that could be used in the documentation of a new hospital gown, to be publicised in exhibitions and press releases.

It was model Shaun who was selected and he was soon setting out on his third assignment with Models Direct. The agency asked him how he felt about the assignment.

“The photographer gave me direction with the designer on what they wanted,” Shaun explained. “They were very pleased with the shoot which then made me feel great… I love being a model. Bring on more!”

This month, fancy- dress shop Smiffy’s rebooked six six-year year-old Ashleigh for the third time to model costumes for their website. As always Models Direct had some glowing feedback from her mum Kerry after the assignment.

“This is the third modelling assignment with the same client during the last five months. Therefore same photographer, make-up artist etc,” Kerry informed Models Direct. “Fab people that make Ashleigh and her mummy feel very welcome and at ease. Ashleigh posed confidently – a pro now! – in eight Christmas fancy dress costumes and wants to go back again. It must be the chocolate biscuits and blackcurrant juice!”

Models Direct Models Get Virtual Reality Makeovers

Models Direct were excited to hear about some rather unusual assignments last month. Almost twenty male and female models were chosen by client Infinite Realities, who specialise in creating digital 3D characters.

Each of the models posed while photographs were taken of them pulling different facial expressions. They could then watch as they were transformed into computer-generated characters such as those seen in films. We had great feedback from all of the models and Lee, founder of Infinite Realities.

Here’s just one model’s response…

“It was great, I really enjoyed it,” Model Damian told Models Direct. “It was amazing. The best thing about the assignment was the photographer was really professional and was very helpful. I was asked to sit and make faces as he took photos of me which would then be turned into 3D. It was really great and I enjoyed it.”

Another Assignment for Models Direct Model Kat

Model Kat, who was lucky enough to work on the assignment for Schwarzkopf, also had an assignment with Torch B2B for Hobart.

Hobart is a company that provides caterers with various kitchen appliances. It was Kat’s job to demonstrate them for a video. Despite having a very early start, Kat was more than happy about how the assignment went. Here’s what she said about her morning…

“The TV crew I worked with were very friendly and communicative. It was a real team spirit as everyone mucked in throughout the day,” Kat explained. “It was great working alongside the male model who was also an actor so I gained some good tips from him!”

“Models Direct staff have all been very proficient in organising my assignments so far,” she continued. “As long as you are confident and don’t get disheartened by rejection now and then it is a great job to have. The opportunities are endless and mostly very glam and fun!”

Models Take Part in Campaign for NHS

When Ice Creates turned to Models Direct they needed a varied mix of nine models who could portray the British public, including a husband and wife, labourers and office workers, to take part in a photoshoot.

The models selected were to take part in a rather thought-provoking assignment for a mental health campaign for the NHS. The male and female models posed around Middlesbrough at locations including Middlesbrough Football Club and the Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art.

It was the first assignment for all of the models and despite some pre-assignment nerves everyone enjoyed it.

“I enjoyed the experience and the support I received to gain knowledge and a professional attitude,” one model, Gary, told Models Direct coordinators after the assignment. “It felt excellent and not as daunting as first thought.”

"This was my first assignment, so I was a bit nervous and didn't know what to expect at the beginning," another model, Hang, explained. "But the people who worked together were really kind and friendly and made me relaxed. I enjoyed every single minute of it."

A Perfectly Fitting Assignment for Models Direct

At the end of 2009, Columbia Sportswear completed their tenth and eleventh assignments with Models Direct! The company has returned again and again to find fitting models for their clothes.

All ages and types of models are needed for fitting modelling and help clothing manufacturers find out how their clothes feel to wear and how they could be improved. For one of the recent assignments with Columbia Sportswear, it was 11-year-old Harry’s turn.

“I loved it. It was the first time I’d done anything like it and the people and clothes I had to try on were fantastic,” Harry informed one Models Direct’s coordinator. “I loved the new experience and the fact that everyone was so nice to me the whole time I was there.”

Kat Receives Her First Assignment!

It’s not every day you get paid to have your hair cut and coloured by top hair-care professionals, so Models Direct model Kat jumped at the chance for this assignment. She starred in a step-by-step video for Schwarzkopf, filmed by award-winning television and video production company Signal.

Signal had never used Models Direct before but were impressed by the service offered. “I was a little hesitant to use Models Direct having never heard or worked them before but it’s been a pleasure,” commented Stacy from Signal. “The model was absolutely fantastic. We were very pleased with her and our client was too!”

Kat is obviously a natural in front of the camera! “It was a really fun day and I loved every minute of it,” she told us. “As long as you are confident, organised and have a sense of humour, modelling is definitely a great profession.”

They Say Never Work With Children or Animals...

In the entertainment business they say never work with children or animals, but working with both turned out to be the perfect combination for one of our female models, Elena.

Elena was working on a photographic assignment with fellow Models Direct model Gareth, young toddler Sam and a pet dog. The photoshoot took place in Sevenoaks, Kent, and was for Kit for Kids, a child care and development company to recreate a previous company logo image.

Elena was the star of the day when she managed to get the grumpy toddler interested in what was going on, which ultimately resulted in a very successful assignment. Models Direct received a very positive account from Lindsay at Kit for Kids.

“Both Elena and Gareth were great and very professional but Elena especially was brilliant,” Lindsay informed us. “All in all it was a successful shoot and wouldn’t hesitate to use either model again.”

Six Year Old Bethany Proved to be the Perfect Model

At the end of last year one child model from Peterborough, Bethany, took part in a photoshoot for Trimedia UK, the European PR company of the year.

They were looking for a cute child model on behalf of their clients Indesit Company and NPower and required the child to be photographed spelling out words with magnetic letters on a fridge.

Trimedia had previously selected a model, but when the advert was put together they felt that they hadn’t achieved the right look. Emma and Libby at Trimedia were shown a selection of model portfolios with professional pictures and even though Bethany’s portfolio picture was one that was taken at home they could see she would be perfect for the role. With only a few days’ notice Bethany was chosen to attend the photoshoot in Peterborough.

It was the first assignment for the five-year-old, and both her and her mum Sarah enjoyed the experience. Models Direct asked Sarah how the photoshoot went.

“Watching Bethany was an amazing feeling, I’m very pleased,” Sarah told one of the Models Direct coordinators. “Bethany is a natural, she knew what to do. Keep on with the good work.”

Repeat Assignments With Action Storage Systems

Back in November client Action Storage Systems returned to Models Direct for the seventh time. The company, based in Milton Keynes, provides innovative storage solutions for commercial premises.

They have used Models Direct to find models for advertising numerous times, and this assignment was no exception. This time Action Storage were looking for a male or female model to pose for images to use in publicity materials. It was model Robbie who was selected for the role.

The photoshoot went well, and both Robbie and Action Storage were pleased with the results. Client Carmel did have one small problem when making the selection though, saying “get some more of your male models to smile in their portfolio shots!”

Carolyn Helped to Promote Breasthealth UK

One of the great thing about assignments at Models Direct is that every so often there is one that makes everyone involved feel like they’re doing their bit for a good cause.

This was the case with one assignment with Adrenaline Creative, a Cambridge and Peterborough-based design and marketing agency. Their client was Breasthealth UK, a private clinic striving to make more women aware of breast cancer and screening services, offering help, advice and support.

Adrenaline Creative were looking for a model to feature in a video about infrared scans and DNA testing for the website and would have to be comfortable performing a self-examination in front of the camera.

The model chosen was 45-year-old Carolyn, who said the best thing about it was that it was for a good cause, as well as finding it exciting to have the responsibility of being the main person in the video.

Francesca Almost Appeared on River Cottage!

One Models Direct model was selected to appear on Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s show River Cottage. Production company Keo Films came to Models Direct to find a female model for one of Hugh’s daydreams. Francesca was the model who was selected to star in the short production which was filmed in Devon.

Francesca was filmed walking through a vegetable patch wearing a bunny-style bikini. She had a great day and can’t wait to continue modelling. Keo Films were really pleased with Francesca’s performance but unfortunately could not edit the piece into the final show. This didn’t stop her enjoying the assignment though!

Baby Beautiful for The Edge Picture Company

Back in October production company The Edge Picture Company turned to Models Direct when they needed a baby to feature in a film for Scottish and Southern energy.

Nick from The Edge Picture Company was looking for a baby with a dark or olive skin tone aged nine to ten months. Our coordinators sent over photos of a selection of babies and in the end it was Mirah from Glasgow who was chosen.

Mirah’s mum Heather couldn’t have been more proud! Here’s what she said about her daughter’s first experience of modelling.

“It was fun for both Mirah and myself and very interesting to see how it all works,” Heather told us. “Mirah seemed to feel at ease and happy with the people around her and her surroundings. I was asked to put Mirah in her high chair while a scene was filmed with a woman who was meant to be her mother. Later she was to fall asleep in the woman’s arms. She snuggled in almost on queue and the producer was very pleased with her performance.”

“If you think your child is suited to being a baby model or in front of a camera with lots of people then give it a go. It makes you very proud to see your baby enjoying themselves and it gives you something to look back on in the years to come.”

Models Direct All Wrapped Up for Gift Shop Poppi Red

If you’re ever on holiday in Cumbria, keep an eye out for the lovely boutique Poppi Red. Located in Hawkshead, Poppi Red describes itself as ‘the ultimate gift and pamper emporium’.

Recently, Poppi Red turned to Models Direct to find a confident female model to lead other models down the catwalk in a charity fashion show. After sending over a selection of models it was lucky Rebecca who was chosen.

This wasn’t the first time that Rebecca had used her modelling skills to promote the area. She has previously worked with Cumbria Tourism, having her photos taken around tourist spots to be used on the company’s website.

“I was pleased with the work involved and the retailer was helpful in giving guidance and support,” Rebecca told Models Direct in her model feedback questionnaire. “It’s fun to be a model, it makes you feel good about yourself.”

Models Direct Goes Back to School

Two of Models Direct’s female models recently went back to college for an assignment at Stroud College, Gloucestershire, helping media students learn how to direct a photoshoot.

Students at the college required some models who would work on a ‘time-for-prints’ basis, and therefore receive photos for their portfolios as payment. Of course this was no problem for Models Direct!

After viewing a selection of models’ portfolios the lucky models chosen were Anna-Marie and Camilla.

The models spent some time with the students to listen to their ideas on the looks that were being portrayed, including powerful businesswomen, a musician in a band as well as some more general fashion photography shots.

So what did Anna-Marie and Camilla think of the assignment? Models Direct found out.

“I was really pleased with how it went, couldn’t have gone better really,” Camilla informed Models Direct. “I felt very relaxed and the time seemed to fly by. It was great to meet new people and talk to the media students about their ideas and how it went for them.”

“It was so much fun and everyone was a joy to work with,” Anna-Marie agreed, saying the best thing about the assignment was “getting the experience of being in front of the camera and working with all different people and their ideas.”

Ashleigh and Shae-Love are still dressing fancy!

Smiffy’s fancy dress company have come to Models Direct five times since November, looking for child models to show off their costumes on the website, they even keep coming back asking for two of our young models.

Ashleigh and Shae-Love are firm favourites of Smiffy’s and have both completed a number of assignments with them. They don’t seem to mind too much – after all, what little girl wouldn’t love to spend a few days trying on fancy dress outfits!

“Ashleigh’s first assignment was magical,” Ashleigh’s mum Kerry told Models Direct. “As a family we enjoyed every minute of it. Ashleigh really enjoyed dressing up in all the fancy dress costumes, having her make-up applied and especially her hair curled, making her feel like the princess that she is!”

Models Direct Gets Sporty!

Rugby fans will be jealous to hear of a promotional assignment Models Direct had with The National Sporting Club.

Nine bubbly models were chosen to meet and greet at the sports club next to Twickenham Stadium on the day of the England vs New Zealand rugby match. The models were chosen to look after the guests at an event running alongside the match.

All of the girls chosen had a great day, the following are just a few of the testimonials.

Four Models Experienced a Life of Luxury for the Day!

Four of our models got to experience a life of luxury for one assignment with client Penna TCS. Julia, Lomi, Mike and Marcus were posing for advertising material for Thomas Cook.

On the day they were paired up and asked to pretend they were on their honeymoon, being photographed posing around a swish heated swimming pool drinking champagne.

For model Lomi the only problem was the Great British weather, but luckily this didn’t stop her enjoying it. “In spite of the cold and being in swimwear it was real fun,” she told Models Direct.

For Marcus the best bits of the assignment were the location, the role and, of course, being served champagne by the pool! “The assignment was great, good people to work with and in a lovely location,” Marcus informed us here at Models Direct. “It was good being a model. I was made to feel very welcome and relaxed, and at the same time professional.”

A Great Assignment Modelling for the NHS

Four of our models, Daniel, Nadeem, Balbinder and Hannah, were chosen to star in a photoshoot for the South Essex NHS Partnership Trust.

The trust needed photos to be featured in an NHS brochure to be used internally. The photoshoot took place in a modern secure forensic prison (there were no patients at the time). Each of them posed around the hospital acting as patients and nurses, showing the features of the unit.

All of the models enjoyed the assignment and getting to know each other. Here are some comments from the models.

“I totally enjoyed the experience as it was a completely relaxed environment,” Hannah told us. “I felt important and able to offer support.”

“I feel very happy with the work I have just done and the people I was working with,” Daniel informed us. “This was my first assignment as a model and I found it exciting and I am looking forward to the next one.”

What tips would Daniel give to other new models? “Be yourself, have fun and listen to direction.” Here at Models Direct we think that’s some very good advice!

Repeat Assignments for Models Direct's Gary

One of our models, Gary, impressed client Design Entity so much that he was invited back twice more after his first assignment with them.

Design Entity had been looking for models for Masterfix London, which offers plumbing, heating and electrical services to name just a few. The pictures have been used for publicity material and the company’s website.

Each assignment involved Gary, along with a couple of other Models Direct models, dressing up in jeans, t-shirts and work boots and posing with various tools and props.

Gary has enjoyed all his assignments with Design Entity, especially meeting the clients again. “I feel good and would like to do it again. It was only for an hour but I felt at ease and enjoyed it,” Gary told us after his most recent assignment.

A Good Night's Entertainment for Models Direct

Two models, Emma and Tatyana, were selected to go for a casting with the writer and director of stage production Girls Night and were chosen above the other models to play the roles.

The whole process was really quick and just two days after impressing the production team, the two models were taking part in a photoshoot to provide images for publicity material.

The two models had to take on very different personas. Emma played an outrageous extrovert while Tatyana was more reserved. They were both perfect for the roles!

“I felt perfectly comfortable and I’m happy with the experience,” Tatyana told one Models Direct coordinator. “I really enjoyed it and would love to do it again.”

“It felt really good and was enjoyable and fun,” Emma agreed. “The client was friendly and very easy to work with.”

Neli Spent a Day Modelling for Fujifilm

Models Direct recently found a model for One Bite Communications, a marketing consultancy based in Hampshire, who were working on a new advertisement for Fujifilm. They had already come up with the storyboard, now all they needed was a model. One of our coordinators sent over a selection of models and it was Neli who was chosen.

For the assignment, Neli spent the day in Reading, Berkshire, being filmed for several sequences that show of the versatility of the client’s cameras.

Neli told us the assignment was great and said it felt fantastic being a model for the day. She also said the best thing about it was gaining some modelling experience and that it’s worth taking the risk.

Have You Ever Considered Promotional Modelling?

Are you lively, bubbly and outgoing? If so, have you ever thought of promotional modelling?

Two Models Direct models, Alena and Hannah, proved to be perfect for this type of modelling in a recent assignment at the Service Managemment Expo 2009. The girls were helping to promote a new design from Destiny PLC, drawing customers to the stall, handing out leaflets and answering the public’s questions.

Andy from Destiny PLC was really pleased with their performance. “The assignment went extremely well,” he informed us. “Both girls were extremely punctual and had great can-do attitudes.”

The models also offered their feedback on the assignment. “I feel very happy about the assignment,” Alena told Models Direct. “It was an enjoyable two days with great people to work with. It always feels great and exciting to be a model and makes a nice change from everyday life!”

An 'Ideal' Assignment for Model Reney

To be a fitting model you need to have the exact measurements a client requires so if you’ve got a good body it can be great area of modelling to get into. Fitting models are used to showcase collections to potential buyers when a clothes hanger just wouldn’t do the outfit justice.

Recently, one of our male models Reney did some fitting modelling for Ideal Europe, a shirt making company in Watford, Hertfordshire. It was something he found to be new and exciting. He was asked to model lots of different outfits and describe the fit to those at Ideal Europe as well as have photographs taken for in-house use.

“The assignment went extremely smoothly as all staff involved were extremely friendly which made me feel at ease,” Reney told one of our model coordinators. “It felt exciting, like starting a new career.”

He also offered some words of advice for other potential models, “it’s not as easy as everyone thinks!”

Caroline for Carolyn: A Great Plus-size Fashion Shoot for Models Direct

Last year a new designer launched herself into the plus-size fashion market, Carolyn. Models Direct were lucky enough to provide her with a model.

Carolyn de la Drapiere provides luxurious fashion alternatives from the high street for women sized 12-26. You can find the collection on the website here. The company even makes bespoke pieces – perfect if you want something completely original!

Carolyn came to Models Direct when she needed a plus-size model to take part in a photoshoot to provide images for the website. The model chosen was Caroline, who described the shoot as “interesting and different. Exciting and challenging.”

“I was amazed how many slim people came and congratulated me on how gorgeous and sexy the models looked. It was if they were surprised that curvy women could look so great. One woman said they looked simply luscious and completely edible.”

Modelling for SubSeventy was Great Fun for Model Jamie

SubSeventy is a golf clothing company that aims to ‘funk up your game’. When they needed a man to model clothes on the website, they came to us. They wanted someone aged twenty-five or over, who was over 6ft and fit and healthy looking.

Jamie was the man chosen to model the stylish sportswear and the photos are featured on the website. This was his first assignment with Models Direct since signing up in June.

He gave us some feedback on how the photoshoot went.

“It went very smoothly and ran on time, the whole experience was very professional,” Jamie informed us. “It was good fun and I was treated well by the photographer.” He said the best thing about the assignment was being paid to have fun.

A Lovely Day Out in Cambridge for Models Jacky and Kevin!

Mature models Jacky and Kevin spent the day modelling around Cambridge for This is Deep design company on behalf of their client, Aviva.

It took a while for Gill and Malcolm from This is Deep to find the perfect models but they eventually found the perfect models. Jacky, Kevin and another model Lorraine spent a day being photographed in restaurants, walking by the river and punting to produce images for future publicity materials.

The three Models Direct models and the client's team all got on well and all enjoyed the assignment.

“The assignment was fantastic, fellow models were lovely company and conversation flowed easily,” Jacky reported back to us. “The photographers were very easy to work for and were appreciative.”

She did have one small complaint though. There was a lot of walking involved and she wished she had worn some more appropriate shoes!

We also asked her what she would say to other older people who are considering taking up modelling in the spare time.

“If they were at all suitable and keen I would encourage them to apply to agencies for selection,” Jacky said. “I learned today that agencies need a wide selection of types and ages, and the models I met today had enjoyed all their assignments. Unreasonable demands are not placed by clients and certainly today was lovely.”

Would you want to be covered in body paint?!

Last month Candice from Cyates Photography came to us looking for a model to take part in a rather unusual assignment. The perfect male model had to be slim with great features and someone who wouldn’t mind being covered in body paint!

The photographic assignment was for an art project shoot and it was model Glyn who was selected. He told us that body paint was a new area of modelling for him but that it was very good fun.

We also got a great response from Candice. When Models Direct asked how the assignment went she told us: “Great! The model was right on time and extremely easy to work with. The model had a great positive attitude.”

Home Sweet Home!

Cross Key Homes needed models to look like a family and so it was perfect when they found brother-sister modelling duo Gabrielle and Perry. Along with Victoria and Vaughan playing mum and dad, they all enjoyed and afternoon photoshoot.

The housing association had originally tried using residents for the photoshoot, which was to promote a housing scheme, but they turned to Models Direct when they didn’t achieve the high standard they were looking for.

This was the siblings’ first taste of modelling and they both enjoyed the assignment, which involved having a pillow fight and playing around the house and garden.

Gabrielle and Perry’s dad, who went along to the photoshoot, told us that the children had lots of fun and that they both thought the experience was fantastic.

Perry, Gabrielle, Vaughan and Victoria play a happy family.

Earlier in the year, Models Direct provided Refinery Photography with these pet models for the Kleeneze Christmas catalogue. As Christmas is quickly approaching, now seems an appropriate time to post the photos!

Rudi the cat and Enrique the dog had to get in the Christmas spirit early as this festive photoshoot took place in June!

Both of the pets’ owners were pleased with the assignment, especially Rudi’s owner Joanne as she had only signed up the day before.

Models Direct Models Play Blushing Brides for Wedding Dress Designer

Here at Models Direct, the girls think they’ve found their dream wedding dresses, and two of our models were lucky enough to try them all on!

Emma Hunt wedding dresses are stunning. “Made with precision and care the dresses are a beautifully designed mix of vintage inspiration & clean lines creating styles that are exquisite and timeless,” as it says on the website.

Emma was looking for models to attend a casting for a photoshoot for her London bridal boutique’s website and to be used at a designer wedding fair. There was a week of castings, attended by models from various agencies. In the end it was two Models Direct models, Karolina and Biljana, who were selected.

Both girls were really happy when they found out they’d been picked and enjoyed a full day photoshoot modelling the dresses.

Models Direct's Elena Models Clarisonic Products for Positive Communications

One of our models spent four afternoons demonstrating the Clarisonic Skin Cleansing System, which has just been released in the UK. The brush uses a massage action to cleanse the skin.

“These days, people are using sunscreens daily, long-lasting makeup and self-tanners, so it’s imperative to properly cleanse the face if you want clear skin,” says dermatologist Dr. Ranella Hirsch in one online article. "Dirt, oil and bacteria left on the skin can wreak havoc, and without clean pores, treatment products like acne fighters and anti-ageing moisturisers are less effective.”

As part of its launch, model Elena was asked to sit in front of journalists while the skincare range was demonstrated on her. The assignment took place over a week and the Models Direct model really enjoyed the experience.

“I am extremely happy to have been selected for this assignment,” Elena reported back to us. “I had a great time.”

What was the best thing about the assignment?

“The best thing was the fact that after only five days of working with a team of four people I felt like we grew a friendship… we all genuinely wish we meet again to work on other projects together.”

Elena also found the assignment very informative, learning more about her skin and how to look after it.

A Fancy (Dress) Assignment for Models Direct

Everyone loves dressing up in fancy dress and it was no different for Models Direct models Dionne and Laura. Centre Stage turned to Models Direct when they required models to pose in various fancy dress outfits for the website.

Centre Stage were looking for two female models, one a size 10-12 and one plus size model for the photoshoot. Models Direct take on models of all sizes so this was no problem at all. The outfits they were modelling included pirate and 70s disco styles. Laura also modelled a number of wigs.

From the photos it certainly looks like the women had great fun and we’re pleased that the models’ feedback reflected this. “It was great,” Dionne told us. “I really enjoyed doing this work. Seventies was the best.”

Laura also enjoyed modelling for Centre Stage. “The assignment was pretty fun and in a very relaxed atmosphere,” she reported. “The lady that the assignment was for was very nice and made us very welcome and comfortable.”

Models Direct Supports their Local Businesses

Earlier this year, and in 2008, Models Direct worked with Yarmouth Stores Ltd, just a short journey from the Models Direct head office. The company provides uniforms, protective clothing and general work clothes for various industries.

On these two occasions Laura and Jenny were picked to model different types of uniforms, including nurse and beauty salon outfits, to demonstrate the products on the website.

We had some excellent feedback from the client, who told us that Laura was a credit to Models Direct and that Jenny was perfect for the shoot. We’re always pleased when assignments go this well.

Earlier in the month, Yarmouth Stores came to us again, this time looking for a male model. Adam was the model chosen and was photographed wearing a variety of work wear and uniforms.

“I thought it all went really well and more importantly I think the client was really pleased with how much we got through” says Adam. “I really enjoyed my role and felt comfortable in what was being asked of me. I’m looking forward to seeing what's next.”

Models Direct model selected for assignment the day after signing up!

Twenty year old model Georgina was recently selected for a student fashion shoot, just one day after she signed up with Models Direct.

The shoot took place at Warwick College and the photographer, Selma Goksen, said that the assignment went well and that she was happy with the results. Georgina will receive promotional images from the day, which could help to boost up any portfolio she may decide to put together in future.

Models Direct are always delighted when their models get chosen for assignments so soon after signing up.

“Georgina had just the look that our client was after, so she was an obvious choice when putting models forward for this assignment” said Models Direct bookings manager Lisa “We are of course very pleased that both our client and our model are so happy with how the day went”.

Earlier in the summer, Models Direct worked with long-running holiday company, Shorefield Holidays.

For models Stuart and Sarah, this assignment probably didn’t seem much like work at all! Shorefield Holidays Limited were looking for models to act as a couple visiting the holiday park in Milford on Sea, Hampshire. For this they were asked to take part in some of the facilities that are offered, for example, fishing, swimming in the pools and simply enjoying a nice dinner.

As you can see from the pictures, Sarah and Stuart had great fun on the assignment, we’re not surprised!

They did encounter one problem however. On the day that the photoshoot was originally planned for there was a huge thunderstorm. While this might have reflected the British summer rather well, it obviously wasn’t a good look for the holiday brochures!

Sarah told us:

“It felt great as it was my first assignment with Models Direct and I was thrilled to be given the opportunity to be the best that I could be. If you are interested in modelling of any sort, feel confident in front of a camera and enjoy meeting people then put yourself out there and give it a go.”

Models Direct Goes Cosmic!

Here at Models Direct we’ve built up a good relationship with Japanese hair salon Cosmic Link, and have supplied them with models on a number of occasions.
In September, we had our fourth assignment with them, for which they needed three inexperienced female models with a European look and well looked after hair.

Georgie, Hayley and Katharine were the chosen three and couldn’t wait for the assignment. They must have felt like stars when Japanese hairdressers flew over to cut, style and photograph their hair. Now they are all excitedly waiting to see the final photographs.

As with the other assignments with Cosmic Link, the language barrier made things a bit more difficult than the regular modelling assignment but the models soon found this didn’t stop their enjoyment.

Did you know? Some hairdressing facts from around the world

In Japanese hair salons, you will have your face covered by a cloth when having your hair washed. This is due to the close proximity between you and the staff member. The lower half of the body is also covered to avoid any indecent exposure!

In Hungary the most common hairstyle request is Rihanna. Followed by Victoria Beckham and Katie Holmes.

In Canada, one out of twenty hairdressers rent the chairs for their salon!

A Good Day at the Office for Models Direct!

Chameleon Design and Media came to Models Direct on behalf of ACCO to find models to help launch a new conference product. Of course we were happy to help!

ACCO needed three models who looked like they could play the part of management professionals, and lucky models George, George and Sarah were selected. They took part in a morning photoshoot, acting as if they were in a business meeting demonstrating the new product.

As the specifications of the assignment were changed at the last minute, we had to work hard to find exactly the right models. George Reade was confirmed the night before the assignment took place!

All of the models had a great time, and said the best part of the assignment was the interaction with the photographer and other models. Model Sarah said this about the day: “It was fun with good company and great direction.”

Promising Male Model Praises Leading Agency: Models Direct.

Twenty-four year old Chris Kingdom, from Leytonstone in London, had a ball on his last assignment for Models Direct. The attractive young model spent two days playing a ‘Gordon Gecko’ character at The Insight Show in the Grand Hall at The Olympia.

He had his hair slicked back, wore a suit with red braces and held a brief case to add to his character. Chris told us that he had enjoyed the role play element to the assignment, commenting, “It was a fun couple of days! It was nice to be working for a good company and to get more work from Models Direct”

Models Direct represent a huge variety of models, connecting those who are selected by clients to businesses everyday, Chris is one of those success stories.

Not everyone is selected by clients that they are put forward to by MD, this is because often the client has a very specific idea of what they are looking for and the modelling industry is notoriously competitive.

However, Managing Director of Models Direct, Damian O’Conner, says “A simple way to raise your chances of impressing the companies we supply, is to keep your promotional images on the MD sites updated regularly. Models Direct do not expect or charge for professional photographs and you can update your own photographs as often as you like, on up to three websites.”

So, do you always have to be stunning, tall, young and slim to be a model??

“I think modelling has really opened up over the past decade or so,” says O’Connor. “Advertisers are looking to find a model who reflects the real world, rather than some high fashion ideal. And at the same time, more and more ordinary people of all ages, shapes and sizes are taking steps towards becoming a model.”

We let Chris have the final word to people out there who would like to become a model;

“Go for it, if it’s something you are willing to put time and energy into. It’s great fun and you meet loads of different characters on different assignments!”

The Advantages of Working for Nothing!

When you first start a modelling career it can be a bit daunting, but the more assignments you do the more confidence you gain, making the whole experience more enjoyable. Many models would be grateful for the opportunity to get some more experience at the start of their career, even if it did mean working for free!

This was the case when student Melanie approached Models Direct looking for four models who were willing to participate in a fashion show to raise funds for Cancer Research. Of course we were more than willing to help out and our team had no problem finding the four women to take part.

The lucky models were Rebecca H, Rebecca B, Carly and Emma. This was the first catwalk assignment for all of them and they had a great day. It was made even more special as it was for such a good cause.

“It’s everything I ever wanted to do so being a model for the day felt like the beginning of my dreams” comments Rebecca H. “It was a great experience and I would love to do it again.”

Models Direct Loves Vivienne Westwood’s Swashbuckling New Collection

Here at Models Direct we’ve been keeping an eye out for exciting collections from the Fashion Weeks and we just had to mention Vivienne Westwood’s men’s collection.

It seems she’s watched Pirates of the Caribbean one too many times as a number of the models are sporting pirate hats and eye-patches. We’re not complaining though, we think the pirate look is a great one, especially at Halloween!

It also appears that she’s taken inspiration from Zorro (masks), Robin Hood (feathered hat), Heath Ledger’s interpretation of the Joker (pale make-up, extended lips) and regressed back to her punk routes(tartan).

After I got over the initial distraction of the accessories I realised the I loved the clothing as well. It’s varied and imaginative, perfectly fitting (for what I assume is) the collection’s theme of ‘Gold and Treasure, Adventure and Exploration’.
